| description | One of major problem faced by the medium enterprise is lacking of workforce. This is because many prefer for larger organizations or multinational companies (MNCs) especially the young and talented employees where these organizations can offer more than what medium enterprise are capable of. Since the development of medium enterprise is crucial to Malaysia as it plays a significant role to not only the GDP of Malaysia but also the employment opportunity, finding the best retaining strategy is critical. Thus, this study is conducted with the intention to investitgate factors that might influence intention to stay among Generation Z employees. The study examines the direct relationship between work environment, monetary reward, career opportunity and intention to stay. In this study, the unit of analysis is the individual Generation Z employees, and a quantitative approach is employed by collecting data using a proportional stratified random sampling technique through an online survey. A cross-sectional design was used that involved 123 Generation Z employees who worked in one of the three selected medium enterprise in Penang. In this study, hypotheses for direct effect were tested using multiple regression analyses. All three hypotheses were supported where work environment, monetary reward, and career opportunity were found significantly positively related to intention to stay. The findings indicate that by having a better work environment, offering attractive monetary reward, and providing with more career opportunity seems to motivate Generation Z to remain with the organization |
