Description
Résumé:Previous studies on acceptance of computer usage have generally focused on managers and students. However, not many attempts have been made in respect of individual teachers particularly accounting teachers. Increasing information technology application and usage demands have prompted the Malaysian government to implement the policy of using information technology in schools. Computers as teaching aid were introduced by the Ministry of Education in January 2003. Various infrastructures were added which includes computer laboratories, accessories and internet connection. This study aims at determining determinants which could influence the acceptability of teachers using AssetBase Software of Principles of Accounting subject. Variables include perceive usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceive user resources, training, and internal support were tested. A research framework was developed and hypotheses posited and tested. Primary data totaling 169 responses were collected from secondary schools for the states of Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis using mailed questionnaire. From this study, it was discovered that perceived usellness, perceived ease of use and user resources exerted stronger influence than training and internal support in explaining accounting teachers' acceptability in using AssetBase Software. Even though the majority of respondents have over 8 years of computer experience, the implementation of Assetbase is still at a minimum level.
