| description | The safety and health of employee is the utmost priority to the employer. Health workers in a research-based institutes need to be aware of the safety aspect during laboratory work or process which may exposed them to multiple types of hazards. Therefore, determining the relationship between safety climate and safety knowledge of occupational safety and health among healthcare workers is a need at workplace and understood by the employer to create a good safety climate. The study objective is to determine the relationship between safety climate and safety knowledge among healthcare workers in research-based institutes. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted between April and Mei 2020 among 292 medical staff of the research base institutes. A multi sections questionnaire were distributed among all health
workers in the institutes. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26. There was a significant positive relationship between safety climate and safety knowledge (r=.53, p< 0.01) and 72% of the dependent variables had no influence on the safety climate
(r2=0.28, p< 0.05). The significant relationship between safety climate and safety knowledge among health care workers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) explained the influences of safety knowledge on safety climate at work place. Employer shall continuously promote safety knowledge among their workers
especially in the laboratories to ensure a sustainable high safety climate at work. Safe worker and safe work place provided by the employer will give rise to safer and productive workers. |
