Résumé:The ability to interact and communicate with a virtual character on screen is an exciting experience. This ability is achievable by implementing a real time system in virtual character to create an interactive digital puppet. It is a concept derived from traditional puppetry such as glove puppets, marionettes or shadow puppets. Digital puppetry is closely associated with motion capture technologies which are expensive, complicated and requires high expertise to perform the task. A research of system development was conducted in order to develop a better alternative for digital puppetry system so it is possible for a wider range of people and companies to use the application for their needs. Through this research, an inexpensive and usability facial expression control system for digital puppetry was developed. The development process of digital puppetry system was explained and audience’s perception towards the system was measured using descriptive statistic. A finding model was generated upon the system validation through five major elements wich as application, performance, visual, development, and interaction. The results showed that the audiences have positive perception towards the new digital puppetry system.
