This study was a comparative group study</p><p>consisting of a control group and a treatment group. The study was conducted for a period of eight</p><p>weeks and at regular class time by the researcher. The subjects for this research were forty Year</p><p>One students divided into two groups: twenty in the control group and twenty in the treatment</p><p>group. The control group was taught using the traditional methods, while the treatment group was</p><p>taught using selected songs in addition to the traditional method. The treatment group achieved</p><p>higher averages than the control group on the post-test. The average scores of the treatment group</p><p>were lower than those of the control group on the pre-test. The control group improved its overall</p><p>average score from 76.30 for the pre-test to 78.45 for the post-test, while the treatment group's</p><p>overall average score improved from a pre-test average of 39.25 to 56.50 on the post-test. The</p><p>control group had a 2.15 gain in its average score at the end of the eight-week period, compared to</p><p>the treatment group's gain of 17.25 during same period.
