spelling	upsi-133272025-09-26 The language learners perceptions on teaching competencies of English teachers at higher vocational colleges in Guangxi China 2024 Chen, Yiyi LB Theory and practice of education <p>The objectiveofthisstudywastoprovideacomprehensivetheme-basedreferencefor the improvementofteachingcompetencesforEnglishteachersinhighervocational colleges inChinawithanexploratorymixed-methodsresearchdesign.The quantitative phaseofthestudyfocusedonfirst-yearhighervocationalstudents_ perceptions of fiveteachingcompetencesinEnglish:knowledgeandskills,teaching design, teachingpractice,teachingevaluationandteachingwisdom.Atthisstage, students comprehensivelyandobjectivelyevaluatethevariouscomponentsof teaching competences.Acomparativeanalysisofthemeanvaluesofthecomponents of teachingcompetencesidentifieditemswherethereweresignificantdeficienciesin teaching competencesfromthestudents_perspectiveand founddeficienciesinall components especiallyteachingpracticeandteachingevaluation.Thequalitative phase ofthestudy,utilizingsemi-structuredinterviews,wasconcernedwiththe perceptions andsuggestionsof10highervocationalstudentsfromdifferentfieldsof study andcollegesonspecificitemsofteachercompetences,highervocational English learningactivitiesandimprovingteachingcompetences.Atthisstage,higher vocational students_perceptions onteachingcompetencesinamorein-depthand specific manner,andfactorsrelatedtoteachingcompetenciesreflectedinlearning activities, haveadirectimpactonstrategiestoimproveteachingcompetences.This research recommendedstrategiesforimprovingtheteachingcompetencesofEnglish teachers inhighervocationaleducationdevelopedexclusivelyfromthestudents' perceptions, focusingontheirexperiencesandperceptionsofEnglish learning activities, incorporatingtheirperceptionsonteachingcompetenceswiththem,and eventually recommendingeffectivestrategies.Furthermore,thisresearchprovides recommendations comprisingthefivemostimportantcomponentsoftherequirements for Englishteachersinhighervocationalcollegestoimprovetheirteaching competences infuturecareerdevelopment,helpingthemtohaveacomprehensive understanding ofthedeficienciesoftheirteaching competencesandtopromptly develop appropriatestrategiesforimprovement.</p> 2024 thesis https://ir.upsi.edu.my/detailsg.php?det=13327 https://ir.upsi.edu.my/detailsg.php?det=13327 text zsm - openAccess Doctoral Perpustakaan Tuanku Bainun Fakulti Pembangunan Manusia <p>An, P.
