It is a research related to the mistakes done by Form Four students in simplifying algebraic expressions with one and two unknowns. The operations involved in this simplifying skill are only addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Six students were chosen based on the mistakes that they have done when answering the questions in part A. The researcher has analyzed the data based on the interviewed transcripts. The analysis of the interviews suggests that among the common mistakes done by students are they do not understand the concept, they stick to the same rules in answering all the questions regardless to the operations and they create their own rules.
