Walaupun keberkesanan penggunaan kemoterapi dalam rawatan terhadap pesakit leukimia adalah jelas terbukti, namun leukimia tetap merupakan penyakit yang sukar dirawat terutamanya dalam masalah kerintangan pesakit terhadap ubat-ubatan (dadah).
