There are many caching products implemented as a stand-alone mechanism, however with new software architecture this solution does not help much to improve the software performance because of service oriented applications and distributed environments. Distributed caching is a type of caching mechanism that helps applications to work in almost every network topology with multiple servers so that it makes the application scalable. Implementing a distributed cache is also feasible since it works basically based on two main hardware modules; memory and network cards. Memory modules are reasonably cheap and network cards are nowadays very fast. Therefore it is possible to use low-end machines to make a bigger network of distributed cache nodes. From another angle of view, network infrastructure and topology of a distributed caching system can significantly affect the functionality of the system if for instance setting up a new instance is going to take a lot of effort like system configuration and cache synchronization. Therefore using peer-to-peer networking in distributed caching mechanism seems to be a feasible solution. This project is defined to proof the concept of caching system on peer-to-peer network. Using peerto- peer computing standard is also a must in this project. The end product must be able to work with all types of .NET application in order to cache their business data in a mesh of nodes and replicate the cache data across the mesh. The system is developed as a set of assembly files (Dynamic-link Library) with benefiting from Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and some other third parties. This software is basically developed to support Consolsys Sdn. Bhd. software products and to help developers of the company to have a better option to scale up the company’s applications. The software methodology for the project is Agile Development. Analyzing and development of design and requirements are mainly done by Unified Modelling Language version 2.0 also known as UML. sof UTM 95 p.
