Sah Salam, supervisor Computing Also available in printed version Emotion is described as one of the nature yet complex traits in human, thus emotion detection remains as an interesting topic among researchers. Being as the main platform of communication, emotion detection from speech retains more and more interests from the researchers. This research is mainly to survey on automatic speech emotion detection using Neural Network, which presents the method on extracting features from the speech sample, using spectrum analysis method of Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient. Extracted features will then be analyzed into feature vector and classified by Neural Network classifier. The average voting rate corresponds to the recognized emotion class, whereas the speech sample will be classified to the emotion class which owns the largest average voting rate, either happy, sad or angry. To ensure the accuracy of emotion detection, prototype will be developed to test with the engine of automatic speech emotion detection. Averagely, the overall recognition rate for this research is 75% atiff UTM 97 p.
