Zain, supervisor Computing Also available in printed version Optimization by using soft computing techniques is very popular and also important nowadays, especially in machining process. Optimal values of machine parameters play an important role which assist to improve the machining quality and reduce machining cost. Optimizations in turning machining process of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) composites by a poly-crystalline diamond (PCD) cutting tool using implicit enumeration integer programming technique was an innovation in the machining area nowadays. As integer programming was considered as a good strategy to find out a combination of optimal process parameters value to yield a minimal or maximal value of machining performance. Optimal cutting condition such as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut are influencing the metal removal rate, tool flank wear and average surface roughness in a turning machining process. Therefore, this study was carried out to explore integer programming and linear programming techniques optimization in order to estimate the optimal machining process parameter values of average surface roughness in turning machining process. Lastly, the results of the study are compared with the real experimental results atiff UTM 107 p.
