A deceased person may left behind properties and money. These properties and money are called as estates. Both government organizations and nongovernment organizations, which include the banking insitutions, are set up to in charge of these estate distribution. However, there is no single body that allows the heirs to handle these estates. Hence, this research was conducted to study the issues of integrating all the organizations in an integrated environment that will ease the estates management. In this paper, the common practice in commercial and Islamic banking institutions was first identified. Then, the barriers of integration between banking institutions and government organisations which are in charge of estate distributions were identified. The research involves the commercial and Islamic banking institutions, Section of Small Estate Distribution and Amanah Raya Berhad. The method used in this research was a mixed method approach which comprised of quantitative research approach and qualitative research approach. The data had been analysed using frequency distributions for quantitative research approach while comparison analyses for qualitative research approach. The findings of this research were mostly from the commercial and Islamic banks practicing the same practice in computerized system and the method of updating the deceased clients’ account. Throughout this report, the barriers pointed out by the executive of commercial and Islamic banks and government organisations were bound by confidentiality issues and technical factors.
