Rahman Zulkepli Majid, supervisor Geoinformation and real estate Also available in printed version Dredging is one of the applications of hydrography to keep the waterways navigable. It is involving an excavation activity in shallow seas or fresh water areas with the purpose of gathering up bottom sediment and disposing of them at different locations. At this moment, there is no specific information system that available to gather all dredging data, process the data and give the information needed about the result. Therefore, it is important to have a Hydro Dredging Information System (HYDRIS) in order to manage all of the dredging data, data processing and also able to present the result. This study will focus on the development of an information system which is a friendly user and able to integrate with other software such as Surfer, AutoCAD and Excel. The development carried out based on the analysis of the dredging data provided. From the analysis, the requirements in HYDRIS are determined. It is very important to have a high understanding about dredging process, volume calculation and presentation of the results as a base of this study. From the requirements, HYDRIS will come up as an integrated information system where the user will be able to manage their data from a database, process the data which are volume calculation using Surfer, able to use AutoCAD to display the bathymetry plan, and present all the information needed in the result such as data in Excel. In order to develop HYDRIS, a strong concept in the development of information system and database design using Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition and Microsoft Access 2007 is a priority for a beginner. This study will be useful in hydrography especially in dredging activity as this system can be developed using powerful tools and database in the future whereby all the data are managed and will provide all the information needed for effective and systematic work snhas UTM 74 p.
