The demand for this native metal is quite high and always increasing although its market prices sometimes was falling. Gold deposits are mostly found in Asia and the region of Pacific where their geological setting is complex by having all the Eons that represents the largest interval for Earth’s geological time scale. Malaysia is one of Asia country that famous with Peninsula Belt which consist of Western Belt, Eastern Belt and Central Belt for having gold and tin mineral in each belt. Gold mineralization generally found in the Central Belt mainly in the North of Pahang and Kelantan (Ariffin, 2012). Hence, many geologist, researchers and prospectors nowadays are active doing a research and prospect new resources of gold deposit by using their expert knowledge and technologies that available in this 21st century. Besides using a powerful machine to know the location that having an accumulation of gold or known as gold deposit, Geographic Information System (GIS) tool also can contribute an analysis in determining the location. However, the analysis is better with a method of Multi Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) which act as a decision marker support tool. The purpose of this study is to determine the potential location of gold deposits in Tanah Merah, Kelantan by using GIS based MCDA methods. The analysis use several criterion in geological aspect as an indicator to determine the gold deposit. Based on that criterion, one of MCDA method, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to evaluate the weight and make a pairwise comparison to rank them according to their importance and suitability. The good thing about MCDA technique is the decision is depend on the decision makers or the evaluators because they are responsible on giving the value or weight of criterion zulaihi UTM 90 p.
