Fire also has been a part of human life since the very beginning of human era. Confined and controlled, human has been using fire to keep their body warm, to cook their everyday meal to power machinery and makes production or new materials possible. In scientific term, fire is described as a chemical reaction between fuel and oxidizer such as oxygen. Even though fires provide many advantages, the destruction by fire throughout centuries has been very dramatic, from the possible cause of dinosaur’s extinction to the conflagration to large cities in the twentieth century. The destruction by fire does not only consume properties but also innocent lives every year. Thus fire protection is very much needed by all living beings worldwide. This dissertation focus on the fire resistant capability of a gypsum composite mixture with rice husks fiber. The main objective is to determine the fire resistant rating for the gypsum composite mixture with the rice husks fiber. To conduct this dissertation experimentally, an experimental furnace was set up and samples were fabricated accordingly to the three different thicknesses of 6.4mm, 9.5mm and 12.7mm in three different compositions of 1000g Gypsum : 10g rice husks, 1000g Gypsum : 20g rice husks and 1000g Gypsum : 30g rice husk. The experiment was done with accordance to the MS1073 standard. The result obtained for the longest time taken was 120 minutes for the thickness of 12.7mm with the composition of 1000g Gypsum: 20g rice husk. From this dissertation, it is now known that the material has a great potential in the building construction and manufacturing industry of fire resistant building material such as fire resistance door, wallboard and ceilings snhas UTM 62 p.
