For this propose, personalized digital libraries providing a way for different users to express their preferences clearly. Users will be confronting with a problem by using this approach. The problem is that users may not attention to their preferences and cannot have an acceptable research. To address these problems, this thesis investigates an approach that gains user preferences based on cognitive style and recognizes relevant characteristics for information seeking and also do classification to classify the researchers.More specifically, this thesis aim to study cognitive style can identify user preferences and explain how the classification can be perform in order to classify researcher to the “Expert” and “Novice”.The results show that there are relationships between cognitive styles and user’sseeking. In addition, there are links between the levels of experience and user searching. It means that, cognitive style has been considered as the main relevant element for user profiling. Moreover, based on cognitive style and the best classification algorithm among three methods of Naïve Bayes, Decision tree and SVMusers can be classified to groups to have a pleasure researchwill increase the degree of satisfaction and high accuracy will achieve. atiff UTM 111 p.
