The use of concreteblock pavement has increased from pedestrian lanes to pavement for harbour andairport. Researches on concrete block pavement have been done intensively toimprove the performance of the concrete block pavement. This thesis presents thestudy of laboratory evaluation on vertical displacement and horizontal resistance ofbottom shaped concrete block pavement. This study focused on the performances offlat and modified bottom shaped blocks on different thickness of bedding sand.Therefore, effects of bedding sand settlement with different types of bottom shapedblocks also investigated. The loose thickness of bedding sand that used were 50 mm,70 mm and 90 mm. This experiment has been conducted by using 2 types of concreteblocks; a control block and rectangular underside shaped with 15 mm groove(USCB-R15) or called modified bottom shaped block. The study consisted of sieveanalysis for bedding and jointing sand, moisture content test, compaction test, pushin test and horizontal force test. The results show that concrete block USCB-R15 hasbetter performance than control block due to the high resistance of horizontal load,achieved highest settlement of bedding sand and less displacement when a load isapplied. Therefore, 70 mm thickness of bedding sand was considered as the optimumthickness of bedding sand because of the best performance of bottom shaped blocktype USCB-R15 on that thickness of bedding sand practical01 UTM 100 p.
