This system is used inapplications which require a full control of image data for manipulation. Oneprocess which benefits from this system is the image reconstruction process. Basedon the concept of projection, which is beneficial to barcode scanner applications, thissystem uses a CCD linear image sensor, a super bright white Light Emitting Diode(LED) and a rotating plate (motor driven) to obtain the shadow projection (on theCCD) of a small object. Eight projections of the object placed on the plate areobtained at every 45 degrees (controlled by position sensors) when the object isrotated. An enclosure is used to ensure that no external light disrupts the shadowprojection. The image data obtained is sent to the computer via RS-232 serialcommunication. The co-ordination of the system is done using the PIC16F877Amicrocontroller. The system’s circuit and a driver circuit are built. Initial testing isdone using the PIC16F84A microcontroller. Output voltage signal (image data)obtained is displayed on the Hyper Terminal and verified with the oscilloscopedisplay. idham UTM 109 p.
