Some of the system is now enhanced to include an Eye Level System traffic signal. An Eye Level System traffic signal is installed at half of the overall height of the conventional traffic signal system, which is same eye level to the driver’s in front of stopping line. The driver’s can easily react to the changes of the signal display at the beginning of green interval. This study was carried out to evaluate the effects and the efficiency of the Eye Level System traffic signal on driver’s starting delay. Data pertaining to the derivation of starting delay were collected for signalized system with and without an Eye Level System traffic signal using a video recording technique. Results of the analysis indicate that the installation of an Eye Level System traffic signal reduced driver’s starting delay at onset of green period by 0.50 seconds when compared with the starting delay at a conventional traffic signal system.
