Moreover, these variables have been mostly studied in western context. The prevalence and link between procrastination and academic achievement is also debated. So the present study was conducted in order to mainly address these concerns by taking university students as participants from two Asian countries Malaysia and Pakistan. Two hundred participants took part, 100 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and 100 from GC University Faisalabad Pakistan. Tuckman’s procrastination scale (with slight paraphrasing) was used to measure procrastination, and general self efficacy scale was used to measure general self efficacy. The results indicated a significant negative correlation between general self efficacy and procrastination. There was no significant relationship between academic achievement and self efficacy but there was a negative relationship found between procrastination and academic achievement which was not very strong (significant at p<0.10). Severe procrastinators were found to make up for 11.5% and the average score of general self efficacy was found to be 30.65 among all of the participants from Malaysia and Pakistan. Then there was no difference found on the basis of nationality and procrastination but Pakistani students had higher general self efficacy than Malaysian students. Age had negative relationship with procrastination and positive with general self efficacy. Gender, field, and level of study had no significant relationships with procrastination and general self efficacy except postgraduates having greater general self efficacy than undergraduate students. The study recommends university counselors from both countries to conduct regular screening of students for procrastination and find ways to improve their general self efficacy atiff UTM 164 p.
