The electro-mechanical actuation system is a device that utilizes power screw mechanism to provide the appropriate clamping force on the metal v-belt. The EMDAP CVT is equipped with dual (two) acting pulleys clamping system to prevent misalignment of the metal pushing vbelt. DRG UTM has realized that the present clamping control strategy is inefficient and is proposing a better one. However, the new clamping control strategy requires some design modifications to the electro-mechanical actuating mechanism. The purpose of this study is to redesign the EMDAP CVT according to the given strategy. Quite a thorough work was initially carried out to find out the viability of the proposed strategy. Four design concepts were generated and evaluated according to standard design procedure. The outcome seems to be very fruitful and a design concept that requires only slide modification to the power screw mechanism has been successfully proposed. snhas UTM 124 p.
