The aim of the project is to design a multiband microstrip antenna which will be operating in the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) band. The antenna has been fabricated on the FR4 microstrip board. By using the microstrip technology the antenna is light weight, easy to fabricate and low profile. The properties of the antenna are investigated in term of Return Loss, polarization and radiation pattern. Simulation, fabrication and testing have been done. The results show that the multiple frequency of Multiband microstrip antenna has been successfully obtained, which resonates at 2.64 GHz, 3.46 GHz and 5.44 GHZ. The return loss for each resonate frequencies are -22.43 dB, -23.07 dB and -13.52 dB while the bandwidth are 3.8%, 4.06% and 2.94%. This multiband antenna was designed based on combination of dipole antenna and circular-ring microstrip antenna. This antenna is omnidirectional and directional pattern of radiation pattern. The omnidirectional is radiate from the dipole antenna while directional antenna is radiates from circular-ring microstrip antenna. The polarization and radiation pattern are also discussed. The results are compared between simulated and fabricated. The conclusion and recommendation for future work are presented in the last chapter. snhas UTM 93 p.
