spelling utm-123456789-411062025-03-10T18:12:13Z Vertical handover and optimized routing based on hybrid algorithm in heterogeneous internet of vehicles network Shaik Mazhar Hussain Kamaludin Mohamad Yusof Electrical engineering Also available in printed version InternetofVehicles(IoV)witha5Gnetworkprovidesubiquitousconnectivityduetotheexistenceofvariousdistinctradioaccesstechnologies,henceitformsaheterogeneousnetwork.Thehighmobilityofvehiclesdemandstomakefrenthandoversinheterogeneousnetworks.Thevehiclesatshortrangeusededicatedshortrangecommunication(DSRC),howeverbettertechnologyisrequiredforlong-range communicationthattransmittingsafetyornosafetydata.4Glong termevolution(LTE)offershighbandwidthandawidercellcoveragerangebuthashightransmissiontimeintervals.5Gprovideshigherdataratesandverylowtransmissionlatencies,butitispronetoblockagesduetoitsinabilitytopenetratethickobjects.Byconsideringtheaforementionedissues,singletechnologywillnotfullyaccommodatethevehicularrequirements,andpotentiallyjeopardizestheeffectivenessofsafetyapplications.Therefore,DSRCandcellularnetworktechnologiesareincorporatedforefficientvehicularcommunication.IncorporationofDSRCandcellularnetworktechnology, has piquedtheresearchcommunity’sinterestinrecentyearstocriticallyresearchand identifytheappropriatenetworksforperformingverticalhandoverinaheterogeneousIoV(HIoV)environment.Usually,thepreviousworkwilldirectlyselectthenetworkorconnectwiththeavailableradioaccessnetworkthatcancausetheoccurrenceofhandovertakesplacefrequently.AhybridalgorithminheterogeneousIoVnetwork(HAHIN)isdevelopedtoaddressthisissue.Hence,inthisresearch,theintegrationofDSRC,4GLTE,and5GmmWavetechnologiesonIoVisincorporatedwithhandoverdecisions,networkselection,androuting.Handoverdecisionandnetworkselectionaretheprocessesinvolvedinverticalhandover.ThehandoverdecisionisusedtoensurewhetherthereisaneedtoperformahandoverbyapplyingdyamicQlearningalgorithm.Thenetworkselectionisbasedonafuzzyconvolutionneuralnetwork(FCNN)algorithm.VehicletoVehicle(V2V)chainroutingisappliedtoselectvehiclepairsbythejellyfishsearchoptimization(JSO)algorithm.Thevalidationandthe performanceanalysisshowedthesuperiorityoftheproposedHAHINmethodas compared tothestate-of-the-arttechnology. zulraizam UTM 162 p.
