The objective of this study is to validate buckling pressures of vessels designed by ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and to study the effects of geometric parameters t, L , D , and r on buckling pressure. The study is limited to ASME Section VII Div. 2 and heads with L it < 500, L ID <1.2, 0.04 < r / D < 0.17. Three methods of analysis were carried out: Theoretical, experimental, and finite element. The results show that the ASME rules are safe to apply with the torispherical heads. The buckling pressures decrease with increase of L i t , and increase with the increase of r I D . The buckling pressure did not have any effect with the increase of LI D . To conclude, the study has achieved its objective in determining torispherical head buckling criteria. shafika UTM 72 p.
