A previous researcher has developed a new hull form through parametric studies. CFD analysis of the hull form, designated G71, demonstrated significant reduction in resistance. However, the previous study was based only on software simulation. The current study carried out further CFD analysis, as well as full scale physical experiments in the UTM towing tank and in the lake. The study verified the simulation results of the G71 hull form using SolidWorks Flow Simulation and assesses the hull resistance of the G71 full-scale prototype in laboratory conditions and its speed performance in real-world situations through speed trials in the UTM lake. The full scale canoe was constructed using jelutong wood in UTM Marine Technology Center. Under laboratory conditions, the G71 full-scale prototype's hull resistance was measured, as was its speed performance in real-world situations through speed trials. The speed testing was undertaken with two canoes, the original TK1 and the G71 prototype. Overall, the study indicates that the new canoe has better speed performance than the original. The G71 design was determined to be superior to the TK1 design, with a 22.82% and 11.11% reduction in resistance using CFD simulation and towing experiment respectively. Furthermore, in the full scale field test, athletes required less power to paddle at a specific speed when using the G71 hull form. Specifically, on the average, the athletes required 13% less power at 6 knots. The findings has confirmed the superiority of the G71 hull form and it recommended to be developed into proper racing canoes to be used by UTM canoe team. shafika UTM 58 p.
