Manual visual analysis of pavement distress is the conventional method to track the surface quality of the pavement. The pavement distress survey was conducted manually by human observation, interpretation, and effort. Thus, it results in significant drawbacks such as slow progress, labour-intensive, inflexible, does not provide an absolute surface measure, and has poor repeatability. Conventional method is not only need to use human operating and subjective approach. But it will also create inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the determination of road surface conditions. The objective of this study is to introduce drones as an alternative method for assessment of road deformation by replacing the conventional method, develop the three-dimensional model for post processing stage of drone photogrammetry by using Agisoft Photoscan software and identify the severity level based on reference from Jabatan Keq'a Raya (JKR). Therefore, an experimental work has been conducted at site location at Jalan Tanjung Resang Mersing to capture and collect road surface deformation and defect by using Dji Phantom drone to analyse by using software. The model produced from software was further analysed and interpreted to obtain the measurement data. To evaluate the accuracy and reliability of this approach, previous studies were carried out by comparing between UAV Photogrammetry with RTK GPS. In overall, the findings indicate a strong correlation with the actual tests, with minor discrepancies. This makes the proposed alternative method a simple and cost-effective method yet provides beneficial characterization results. zulraizam UTM 60 p.
