Deep Mixing (DM) method is a well-known in-situ soil stabilization technique that proved increase the bearing capacity of soft soil. Compared to other ground improvement techniques deep mixing has advantages such as the large strength increase within a month period, little adverse impact on environment and high applicability to any kind of soil if binder type and amount are properly selected. The application covers on-land and in-water construction ranging from strengthening the foundation ground of buildings and embankment supports. The DM method can be formed in a group of columns as either installed in end-bearing or floating soil cement column. However, there are still lack of investigation especially for ground improvement by floating soil cement column. Thus, in this study, numerical modelling was performed to study the effect strength of floating soil cement column towards the bearing capacity of improved ground. The analysis was performed by PLAXIS 3D using Mohr Coulomb, MC model. This study include the use of area improvement ratio, ap of 21.21% with corresponding column height, Hc of 0.5H and 0.65H. Different undrained shear strength which are 10 and 25 times were used with undrained analysis on the soil model. The analysis showed that as the strength of soil cement column increase, the bearing capacity of the soil also increase. From the result, the percentage increment of strength of soil cement column increase up to 45%. By numerical analysis, the behaviour of bearing capacity of improved ground can be understand through the deformation and stress distribution pattern. zulraizam UTM 73 p.
