However, traditional boats are normally built without involving proper ship drawings. Therefore problems are encountered when drawings are not available for analysis work. This thesis describes a study about photogrammetry in boat survey. The main objective of this study is to develop a method to obtain hull form of small boat based on the photogrammetry method. The method was initially tested on a small fishing boat model having a length overall 71 cm to assess its effectiveness. Once the method has shown some potential, a more comprehensive method was developed and applied on a bigger fishing boat model having length overall 2.5 m. In this study a typical Digital Single Lens Reflex camera was used with convergent configuration to obtain 3D coordinates from 2D photograph captured. This study also involved the usage of circular retro-reflective target tapes that were marked on boat hull at line of stations for referencing purposes. PhotoModeler Pro5 photogrammetry software were used for image processing purposes to obtained X, Y, Z coordinates and coordinates obtained from image processed than exported into naval architecture software Maxsurf. The 3D coordinates generated was read as markers in Maxsurf software which display the hull form of the model. Result obtained indicated that method developed was able to obtain lines plan of the boat. However, some improvement is required to improve the accuracy of the measurement zulaihi UTM 81 p.
