The use of green materials from renewable resources, durable, sustainable, lightweight with the good performance in mechanical properties are significantly much better than those traditional materials. Biocomposites materials are one of the green materials that currently used in green buildings. Biocomposites are emerging as the replacement to synthetic fiber reinforced composites (Jamaludin M.Y et. al., 2011). This paper is a review on the tensile behaviour of kenaf fibers vinylester biocomposites has a good potential act as reinforcement in thermoset composites. The tensile properties of natural fiber reinforced polymer are mainly influenced by the interfacial adhesion between the matrix and fibers (H. Ku et. al., 2011). In this study, water retting is applied as a method for kenaf fiber treatment. This research objective is to evaluate the physical properties of kenaf fiber polymer biocomposites. Density test were carried out on kenaf fiber and vinylester resin while tensile test was carried out on kenaf fiber polymer biocomposites. The moulds used with the dimension exactly 200mm in length, 6mm thickness and 25mm width. There are six categories of sample which were control samples (neat) and biocomposites with various fiber contents of 10% (2.31g), 20% (4.62g), 30% (6.93g), 40%(9.24g) and 50%(11.55g) of volume fraction. The samples were prepared by incorporated kenaf fiber into the unsaturated vinylester thermoset matrix and cured in 24 hours. Strain gauge was installed to obtain the strain value during the test. After forming the composites, samples were prepared for tensile test. The samples were tested under monotonic tensile loading until failure. Tensile load and strain were monitored and recorded during testing. Results from the test found that the density of kenaf fiber and resin were nearest as in the previous study. The liquid density of vinylester resin was 1.10 g/cm and cured density of vinylester resin was 1.03 g/cm while the density of kenaf fiber obtained was 0.7732 g/cm. Kenaf fiber gave contribution to the strength of kenaf fiber polymer biocomposites. It was evident from stress against strain diagram that the ultimate tensile strength achieved were between 14.86 MPa to 78.92 MPa was greater than unsaturated vinylesters ultimate tensile strength which was only 11.07 MPa. The highest result obtained for strain in percentage was 0.78 at control sample (neat). While, the highest value for Young Modulus was at 50% of fiber volume fraction, 13.06 GPa. However, the Poissons ratio showed the constant trend from neat, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% of fiber volume fraction. The average result obtained for Poissons ratio was 0.43 fahmimoksen UTM 84 p.
