The chosen rivers are Sungai Redan, Sungai Karang, Sungai Dinar and Tanjung Bin. This study is divided into three part; the first part is identification of water quality assessment and with the second part involved distribution fish in the area and third part involved of questionnaires analysis. Water quality parameter studied are DO, COD, temperature, Cr, Fe, Cu, AN and Zn. The results is then compared with the Marine Water Quality Standard (MWQS) guidelines. From the results Sungai Redan and Sungai Karang are classified as Class III showing polluted rivers whereas Sungai Dinar and Tanjung Bin are highly polluted with copper and zinc. The COD value of downstream Sungai Pulai are between 200 to 517 mg/L . Copper shows high concentration at 1 mg/L to 5 mg/L. Zinc at Tanjung Bin with the highest value at 2.15 mg/L, Ammoniacal nitrogen recorded at Tanjung Bin is in the range of 0.2 mg/L to 3.48 mg/L. From the COD and metal concentration recorded it shows that the rivers are polluted. As for the fish distribution evaluation, the results showed a trend in which fish numbers and diversity were higher at downstream stations compared to upstream stations. This trend can be attributed to the proximity and connectivity of the downstream stations to the open waters of the Straits of Johor. However, there are many underlying factors that influence fish occurrence such as geographical and river characteristics, tidal factors, seasonality and also land use impact or human activities. fahmimoksen UTM 111 p.
