Therefore, this is evident that a preventive measure to avoid accidents should be taken as soon as possible. The purpose of this study is to discuss, design, and develop a prototype of drunk driver detection and alert system. The prototype aims to provide an alert system which can minimize road accidents and improve road safety. The response of the alcohol sensor is analysed with respect to various distance from source and time taken for detection which are the crucial parts of the design. The developed prototype quickly detects the level of Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) using a human breath sample by estimating the alcohol level corresponding to the resistance of the alcohol sensor. Analysis of results shows that the closer the distance from the source, the faster the time taken for alcohol sensor to detect. Meanwhile, the higher the concentration of alcohol, the higher the value of BAC readings are displayed on the LCD panel. Upon detection, the LED lights up and the buzzer is activated. Also, a message is displayed on LCD panel showing the level of BAC and driver�s status. zulaihi UTM 56 p.
