Annoyance is particularly considered to be one common caused towards environmental noise. The increasing of the traffic volume in the roads especially in the residential area create major contributor for noise pollution. In this manner, it can impose serious damage to human wellbeing, human comfort ability and reduce labour productivity. Hence, the aim of this study is to assess the public annoyance response and to propose the mitigation to reduce the traffic noise. Three objectives has being determine which are to determine the Traffic Noise Index (TNI), assess the public annoyance response to traffic noise and propose a proper mitigation that can reduce traffic noise annoyance. Eight case studies of residential areas had been identified and only three critical areas have been discussed. The sound level metre had been used to measure the noise level. From the study shows that Taman Mutiara Rini recorded the highest noise level which is more than 75 dBA during peak hour between 5p.m. to 7p.m. due to the driver of behaviour, speed of the car and type of engine itself. The noise levels were compared with World High Organization (WHO) which is within 55 dBA. The traffic noise index (TN!) was also compared with the limt of 74 dBA for residential area. The 50 sets of questionnaire had been distributed towards the people whom are affected by the traffic noise produce by the vehicles. The respondents are agree the traffic noise effects the level of annoyance and sensitivity. In order to reduce the traffic noise, it is proposed that to provide noise barrier which are restoration oftrees and concrete wall zulaihi UTM 131 p.
