CB can achieve improved signal strength, directional signal transmission, energy efficiency and node redundancy when practically deployed in a wireless sensor network environment. However, signals from Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) CB nodes are not synchronized at the target receiver due to unsynchronized clock frequencies of the device?s Local Oscillators (LOs). Overcoming this issue can be challenging as the frequency and phase for the combined received signal still drifts after some time even when initially synchronized. To eliminate these, received signal strength from the receiver in the form of 1-bit is sent to the CB nodes as feedback in a periodic burst. Frequency and phase offsets are estimated and compensated in the CB nodes with the help of the 1-bit feedback signal. In this thesis, an iterative procedure synchronizes the common message signal from multiple transmitters to a receiver. LO frequency synchronization and random phase adjustments are carried out by participating CB nodes at each time slot to increase the signal to noise ratio (SNR) at the receiver. Firstly, the obtained Allan variance curve, which was used in the calculation of the process noise covariance matrix for N210/NI 2920 USRP truly depicts the standard slope characteristics of white frequency and random walk frequency noises, which are special considerations when dealing with USRP's LO. Secondly, mean square error of the frequency offset from the feedback received signal was estimated with the developed proposed LO estimation algorithm. The LO estimation algorithm tracked the modified Cramer-Rao lower bound more closely for SNR between 7 dB and 20 dB. The 99.57% and 93.74% improvements are recorded for CB1 and CB2 nodes, respectively, when compared to the Quitin LO algorithm. Thirdly, the proposed extended Kalman filter (EKF) algorithm was used to model the nonlinear LO offset of the CB nodes in order to have a filtered frequency and phase estimate. The Kalman gain of this algorithm is found to decay from an initial high value of 0.3 until it achieved the steady-state value of 0.05. Lastly, when beamforming was enabled for the two CB nodes, approximate 66.67% increase in magnitude is achieved when two CB nodes are transmitting and converged compared to a single CB node fahmimoksen UTM 167 p.
