The aim of this research is to assess and monitor the level of sustainability performance in UTM with the following objectives; i. to construct the conceptual framework of campus sustainability assessment; ii. to identify a set of sustainability indicator; iii. to establish campus sustainability assessment method; and iv. to measure its level of sustainability initiative performance. The whole process in this study deploys and innovates the framework analysis process. The data collection uses two types of constructed questionnaires, namely for the indicator selection and weight assignment. The questionnaires are distributed to the academic and supporting staffs in UTM. The study produces; i. an integrated framework of campus sustainability assessment with five main domains: curriculum, community, operations, research, and governance; ii. 14 sub-domains and 26 indicators; iii. the campus sustainability assessment method consists of proximity-to-target value for each indicator, weight assignment and the aggregation process. The value for each domain score are 30.22 for operation, 4.31 for research, 4.18 for curriculum, 4.10 for community and 2.97 for governance; finally, iv. the calculation of campus sustainability index generates the composite index score value of 45.78. This shows UTM is still in the first transition phase of five levels of sustainability established from this study. The highest aggregate value is the operation domain, which indicates the highest number of sustainability initiatives implemented. In achieving the highest level of campus sustainability, the study recommends that UTM sustainability policy should take into account the five main domains in an integrated and holistic ways, as well as improving the aspect of sustainability governance zulaihi UTM 188 p.
