In general, the current output of secondary CT must be proportional to the primary current based on the ratio. However, at certain condition, the secondary current of CT can saturate and caused the secondary current waveform distorted. This research proposed the use of Wavelet Transform to detect the distorted current waveform during CT saturation and implement the curve fitting to reconstruct the distorted secondary current waveform. The Wavelet Transform based feature decomposition using ‘Daubechies4’ as mother wavelet is implemented to detect the CT saturation in time analysis. Once the detection has done, the reconstruction of CT saturation by curve fitting of fifth degree polynomial function to reconstruct the CT saturation. The least square method in regression of polynomial was proposed based on the unknown sample coefficient from ideal waveform. From the analysis, it is found that the Wavelet Transform can determine the moment occurs of distortion for both start and end of the CT saturation and the curve fitting method is able to reconstruct the saturated current waveform to normal curve. Furthermore, from the result, the increasing values of the fault current resulted the faster time of CT saturation. However, the current error after reconstruction is reduced. Thus, it is proved that proposed method was able to give an indicator of CT saturation time period effectively and from to the reconstruct process for the distorted waveform is successfully implemented fahmimoksen UTM 76 p.
