Besides that, the researcher also focuses on the performance of the material so that it is more durable and economical. Therefore, it has led to the development of polymer modified bitumen emulsion study. This study was divided into two phases which were Phase I and Phase II. Phase I was the sample preparation stage while Phase II was the material evaluation and characterization stage. 6 samples were prepared in the Phase I which were bitumen emulsion with 0% SBR, 5% SBR, 7% SBR, 9% SBR, 11% SBR and 13% SBR. In order to determine the physical properties and rheological properties, all the samples were tested using the particle charge test, residue by evaporation, penetration test, softening point test and dynamic shear rheometer test. From the result, it’s shown that bitumen emulsion with 13% of SBR has better performance compared to other bitumen emulsion. There was some reason that bitumen emulsion with 13% SBR is chosen as the best performance as it has low penetration value and high softening temperature, which indicated that the bitumen has the stiffer physical properties compared to others residue bitumen emulsion sample. Rheological properties of bitumen emulsion with 13% SBR have the highest complex shear modulus and a lower phase angle in the dynamic shear rheometer test.
