The flooding problems has cause a damage to the building, road, bridge, agriculture activity, infrastructure sometimes human also affected by these problems. Flood is the overflow of a normally dry area caused by the increased water level in an established watercourse. River flooding stemmed from excessive rainfall and surface runoff. The objective of this study is to determine the hydraulic parameter of non-vegetated and vegetated natural meandering and the morphological changes in the channels due to flooding event. This experiment was being carried out at hydraulic and hydrology laboratory, Faculty of Civil Engineering Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. The main used substances, have been changed from clay to sand with the size of sample d50 about 0.8 mm. Furthermore, from the results of the Froude Number calculation, it shows that the flow characteristics that occurred during this study on the design of the river channel were subcritical flows. While for the Manning’s Roughness Coefficient was in the range 0.10 to 1.40. Base on the result of the experiment shows the effectiveness of riparian vegetated method place along the bank line could control the soil erosion problem and increase the stability of the river structure. After that, there was another factor that affecting the changes in the river profile was the riverbed material. Based on the comparison data with the previous researcher which use clay as their riverbed material shows that clay does not cause the huge changes of river profile while for sand riverbed material shows there was a huge change to the river profile compared with the original river profile zulaihi UTM 85 p.
