However, many organizations form protection strategies by focusing solely on infrastructure weaknesses; they fail to establish the effect of those weaknesses on their most important assets. Many people look for a silver bullet when it comes to information security. They often hope that buying the latest tool or piece of technology will solve their problems. MAMPU is associated with being a highly sophisticated ICT security organization for which SCAN Associates has structured an effort to develop a methodology that is called MyRAM, or the Malaysian Risk Assessment Methodology to identify and assess potential vulnerabilities and threats to an organization. Lately, a reliable and efficient tool called MyRAM Tool was developed which is believed can provide a systematic approach to calculate risk and utilizes qualitative processes to determine the level of risk associated with the assets, threats and vulnerabilities. MyRAM Tool allows an authenticate user to identify critical assets wherein these assets will be evaluated based on the possible threats and vulnerabilities encountered for each particular asset. Towards the end, the organizations can determine which assets involve the high, medium or low risk. Moreover, MyRAM Tool also provides potential safeguards which helps when encountering problems with the assets. MyRAM Tool requires the project team members to fully understand the requirements of risk assessment methodology, its components, and its involvement in the software development processes; analysis, design and implementation. sof UTM 149 p.
