The objective of this project is to improve Airwalker 4D Spring Catch strength to ensure zero latches broken during customer assembly process. This project focuses on injection molding process that has been selected for producing Airwalker 4 Disk. A problem identified is the Airwalker 4 Disk Comb spring catch broken during the process of transportation from one site to another site. The project is started with define phase which is problem identification. Primary data for a period of three months were collected. The data shows that about 60% of Airwalker 4 Disk break during customer assembly process. The measure phase starts with pull test to measure the maximum force that the spring latch can stand before it breaks. This data can be use to compare for the improvement phase. The analyze phase consist about cause and effect diagram for analysis the root cause of the problem. After some discussion with the person in charge and from the mold flow analysis we have come to select mold measurement of spring latch as the main factor of the problem. The propose improvement is done by designing the new dimensions for the spring latch radius. The new dimension is validate by mold flow simulation to confirm that the improve radius will alternate the last point of the molten reach the mold at spring latch to other part that the function are not important. Then, fabricate the new core that consist the new radius of spring latch to insert into the mold and run the experiment. The dimension of new spring latch radius was taken and constructs a control chart and process capability analysis. Run a pull test again and record the result zulaihi UTM 92 p.
