Nizam Dahalan, supervisor Mechanical engineering Also available in printed version Preliminary design of a supersonic aircraft is an important stage before it could proceed to the detail design. Among so many fields of preliminary design, the interest of this project is converged on the estimation of aerodynamic characteristics of combinations of wing and body configurations. The main target of this project is to find out the estimated lift and drag coefficients for several configuration of wing-body combination of aircraft in supersonic flight regimes. This is also an attempt to develop a software in which the iterating calculations would be programmed into a wizard as to carry out computations with several basic inputs. The result would be displayed in form of the corresponding CL and CD at certain Mach number and angle of attack. Details curve at lift and drag coefficients to the function of angle of attack would also be displayed upon command. The output result of the computer program was compared with wind tunnel test of real aircraft configuration to validate the computer program snhas UTM 66 p.
