Flood detention system introduced by the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS) by Storm Water Management for Malaysia (MASMA) present to evaluate the capability of detention pond in the study area. The purpose of this study is to get information about the capability of the detention through analysis. To figure out finding there are three main stages which is to determine the peak flow rate value, calculate the storage volume of the pond based on flow rate before and after development. Analyze the effectiveness of the pond in the control flow rate after peaks development for ARI 5, 50 and 100 years. From the analysis the maximum flow rate for pre development is 0.7830 m3/s and 1.057 m3/s for post development to ARI 50 years. The pond is able to accommodate the volume up to 2,620 m3 certain at one period of time and the amount of it is just 33% or 887.88 m3 only the volume is used. Pond is also capable of controlling the peak flow rate of 0.747 m3/s to 0.231 m3/s or a reduction of 69% for ARI 5 years. 1.057 m3/s to 0.371 m3/s or a reduction 64% for ARI 50 and 1.174 m3/s to 0.427 m3/s for a reduction 63% for ARI 100 years. The conclusion that can be made from this study is the retention pond able to reduce the frequency of flooding for ARI 5, 50 and 100 years. fazli UTM 88 p.
