It is non-invasive, low cost, real time, portable and non-ionizing pulse-echo. Since the existing 3D (three-dimensional) US probes has limited field of view in one scan, large region image cannot be acquired. Therefore 3D US image reconstruction is needed. The freehand 3D US image reconstruction combines the position information and 2D (two-dimensional) US images into 3D volume with 6 degree of freedom. The objectives of this study are to create a tissue phantom and perform bin-filling for 3D US image reconstruction. A tissue phantom was made from Poly-vinyl Alcohol (PVA) and distilled water. The tissue phantom is meant to be a verification tool for 3D US image reconstruction algorithm. A bin-filling algorithm synchronizes the 2D US frames and position information from the position tracker (Play Station (PS) 3 console), then transforms the 2D US frames into one 3D volume atiff UTM 51 p.
