Contractors and owners are seeking new ways to reduce cost and increase efficiency on their projects. Productivity has become a matter of increasing concern to construction industry. Contractors experience a loss of productivity when their work is disrupted. The circumstances that affect productivity, that was both within the contractor's control and outside of the contractor's control. The key to improvement is to understand what factors affect the productivity of the construction project. A study is carried out to identify the perception of contractors in relation to construction productivity and its related issues. This study describes the survey that are related to productivity issues, de-motivating factors affecting the construction projects productivity and improvement techniques to be implemented. The study concludes that the contractors understanding towards productivity are on average. Work studies were being implemented on site together with monitoring. The main de-motivating factors affecting the construction projects productivity is the environment factors. Meanwhile, the task-based improvement techniques are used by the contractors’. It is suggested that, if the top management take an active action in giving support in exploring improvement opportunities, those barriers to productivity improvement could have been considerably reduced snhas UTM 182 p.
