Faridh Ahmad Zaharuddin, supervisor Mechanical engineering Also available in printed version The purpose of this study is to increase the percentage of the good part after lacquering process for plastic lens product by the optimization of the machine parameter used at the lacquering process and reducing the defects in the lacquering process. The methods that have been used are the Design of Experiment and root cause analysis using Six Sigma tools such as Pareto chart and Fishbone Diagram. The purpose of doing cause and effect analysis using a Pareto chart and Fishbone diagram is to identify the main defect that contributes to the rejection of the product's part. The main defect was chosen using the 80/20 rule, the principle of Pareto Chart. Besides, it also as the method to identify the main cause of the main defects. The experiment has been carried out using Reciprocal Machine SDP Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. Sixteen experiments with 4 types of manipulated parameters have been carried out in the experimental design. The design of the experiment used is 24. As the result, the optimum parameter setting that obtains from the experiment is high level for Ionizing Pressure (0.3 MPa), low level for air blow pressure (0.2 MPa), low level for Auto Air Blow Pressure (1.5 Bar), and low level for Ionizer Pressure (1.5 Bar). After doing the run, the result showed that there was an improvement in the percentage of good part from 59.88% to 87.00%. fahmimoksen UTM 76 p.
