This study aims at terrestrial laser scanning point cloud to identify the lamp post along the road stretch. The point cloud was obtained over ten lamp post along the road stretch area. The area consists of twelve stations that needs to observe all the selected lamp post and field measurement is measured based on lamp post height and different diameter. All scanning station is merged into one traverse network to register all the point cloud that been measured at the field. Noise removal has been used to remove all the unwanted information for example ground, building, trees and etc. The Digital Elevation Model and Digital Surface Model are created on 0.05m resolution to generates Canopy Height Model for further progress. The Canopy Height Model undergoes segmentation and vectorization process to obtained canopy sizes and height which height break limit been applied to it. The detection is based on canopy size and height which has possibilities similar value to another that can be predicted to the vectorization result. The shapefile extracts the point cloud data using the delineation of the lamp post to separates the raw data and lamp post. The height and diameter are estimated using cylinder fitting model which height is computed using histogram analysis. The result shows that the Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of the estimated tree height does not have an accurate result. This is explaining by complicated distribution on the ground while the upper part of lamp post is missing that can affect the RMSE of estimated versus measured height. The cylinder fitting approach shows better estimation result from diameter of lamp post with RMSE of 0.005m and 0.09m for lamp post height. The omission and commission error obtained 100% detection of lamp post with 0% and 0%. The difficulties in this research are the unwanted object for example tree that looks alike lamp post which can reduce the possibilities of lamp post object. fahmimoksen UTM 86 p.
