Pauzi Abdullah, supervisor Electrical engineering Also available in printed version Energy utilization rate for each college at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is extremely high and the fee paid by the layout management to the electricity supplier (TNB) is also high. The reason the increase in consumption of electricity in each residential college is dependent on the applied load, time use, and the use of these products. One expense that contributes to the increment of electricity consumption at UTM is lighting. The light is a burden that is often used by students, especially at night. So, light is one of the contributors to the increase in electricity consumption in the residential colleges at UTM. In this project, electricity consumption data for each college at UTM are taken. In addition, the type of lighting for residential college that is contributing to the increase in electricity is identified to facilitate this analysis. After that, the existing lighting technology is compared with the existing lighting technologies in the market. Comparisons are made based on the life of hours, price, energy saving, payback period and lumens. Lighting technology that can provide energy savings of electricity will be selected to replace the old lighting technology snhas UTM 56 p.
