Primary device (parent unit) includes a XBEE® radio as the wireless communication component, signal strength indicator, home button, buzzer, compass indicator and microcontroller unit in order to send data to secondary device. The secondary device consists of XBEE® module, buzzer, vibrating alert, signal strength indicator, panic button, compass module, and microcontroller unit. Parent will hold the primary device and the secondary device held by the child or children with hearing impairment. The parent module and the child module will send and receive data within the particular range. The location of the secondary device can be measured by the primary device via compass module attached to the secondary module. The distance measurement between both of the modules monitored with the received signal strength data between the two XBEE®s. Therefore, the distance can be monitored and displayed by the parent and the children. The indicator will be turn on from both modules when one of the devices is out of the permitted range between the parent and the children zulaihi UTM 76 p.
