This is especially common in the case of the banking industry, which is experiencing continuous technological and procedural changes. Adapting to organizational change requires employees’ commitment to ensure an effective implementation of organizational change. The study examined the effect of communication on employees’ commitment towards organizational change directly and indirectly by investigating employees’ resistance and readiness to change. A mixed method research design was used to address the research questions. One hundred and eighty six employees of bank X in Oman were randomly selected to participate in a survey where self-administrated questionnaires were used to collect quantitative data. Besides that, semi-structured interviews with the heads of the Human Resource Department were conducted to collect qualitative data in the form of contextual information of the factors. In the analysis, the mediators were calculated by using bootstrapping technique for multiple mediation models. The findings showed that the employees’ commitment towards organizational change has significant mediating effects on the resistance and readiness to organizational change. The study has twofold contributions: theoretically, the findings have been used to identify factors that affect an employee’s commitment toward change, and validity of the theoretical framework has been empirically tested. The practical implication of the study is significant for bankers and organizational change strategy makers in the banking sector.
