The study of potential renewable energy sources in Malaysia becomes necessary due to the rise of electricity usage itself. The main sources of energy in Malaysia are from hydroelectric plant from dam and thermal-coal fire power plant. In order to reduce heavy dependence from both power plants, wave energy is potentially to replace them as Malaysia has stable and continuous wave activities. The selection of suitable potential site is a critical issue in which other aspects related to the selection need to be considered. The aspects are such like environmental, regional, social, and economic issues. By applying fuzzy logic technique into GIS, the problems regarding site selection can be solved as each of the criteria are weighted and a suitability ranking of the potential location will be produced with the scale from 0% to 100% of suitability. These approaches are considered as site suitability analysis. For final product, multi criteria decision making of the possible factors is performed by Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. AHP which is one of the fuzzy logic techniques had been used to rank the priority of each criterion in selecting the potential sites for wave energy. The final output was the fuzzy suitability map of wave energy potential location. zulaihi UTM 76 p.
