Therefore, the extensive use of mobile devices stimulates the development of a broad range of mobile applications. There is also a widespread adoption of mobile applications in education. However, not every student has the necessary skills and knowledge in using mobile applications. Thus, this study aims to develop a theoretical model based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and then empirically test it for determining the major factors that influence the students intention to use mobile application. Additionally, the objectives of this study are (1) to identify the accounting students mobile application use patterns, (2) to determine the most influential factor affecting accounting students intention to use mobile application as well as (3) to examine the relationship between the performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, entertainment motivation, social utility motivation, and communication motivation with the intention to use mobile application. A structured questionnaire was distributed to 295 undergraduate accounting students in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in order to collect the data. Due to the limited access to the respondents, the response rate was only accounted for 71%. In this study, the descriptive and Pearson抯 correlation analysis were conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software version 23.0. The findings of this study demonstrated that social networking applications are very often used by the accounting students. The study also found that communication motivation is the most influential factor that affect the accounting students intention to use mobile application. Moreover, the study indicated that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, entertainment motivation, social utility motivation, and communication motivation have a positive and significant impact on the accounting students intention to use mobile applications. In conclusion, this study confirmed the applicability of the UTAUT model in the context of mobile application use among the accounting students in educational institutions like UTM. It also provided valuable information for students, developers, and educators in understanding the importance of mobile application adoption. Furthermore, this study has a limitation where the results may not represent all the users of the mobile applications. Thus, the scope of the study should be expanded in future studies to improve the accuracy and reliability of the data. fahmimoksen UTM 120 p.
